Funeral to be Held for Mentally Ill Man Shot by Dallas Police

A community mourns the death of a man with mental health behaviors shot by Dallas police.

A funeral for Jason Harrison will be held Saturday at Community Baptist Church, 115 West Belt Line Road.

The service is scheduled to start at 1 p.m.

Officers shot Harrison after responding to a mental health call June 14.

His family says Harrison held a screw driver and refused to put it down.

After repeated requests for Harrison to drop the weapon, police said he acted aggressively and both responding officers fired.

The police department is still reviewing video from body cameras to determine exactly what happened.
