Frisco Police Chief Accepts New Job in Richland, Washington

The Frisco Police Chief has accepted a new job as Police Chief in Richland, Washington, the Frisco Police Department announced Monday.

John W. Bruce has worked for the Frisco Police Department since 1996 and was named Police Chief in 2013.

The announcement came Monday morning from the Richland, Washington Police Department.

Chief Bruce is expected to start working for the new department next month after passing customary background checks and testing.

Chief Bruce and Deputy City Manager Henry Hill released the statements below:

"This morning it was announced by the City of Richland, Washington that I had been chosen as the sole finalist and given a conditional offer. I have accepted that offer and now must complete some additional testing and procedures. Once the results of those tests are known, a transition plan will be released. I look forward to this opportunity and truly appreciate the opportunities that I have had with the City of Frisco. As far as responding to how the City would conduct a Chief search, I cannot say. The process is completely up to the City Manager." – Chief John Bruce, Frisco Police Department

"We congratulate Chief Bruce on his new opportunity and conditional offer," said Henry Hill, Deputy City Manager. "We appreciate John’s integrity, servant leadership and dedication to serving the City of Frisco for more than 23 years, including the last six as Police Chief. Given today’s offer, we anticipate Chief Bruce’s resignation in the near future; however, until then, announcing plans involving the naming of an interim chief and / or hiring a permanent successor are premature."
