After years of fundraising, the Frisco Aquatics program has found a new home on dry land.
On Friday, the team will break ground on its new 30,000-square-foot facility thanks to private fundraising.
"We've been working so long to get to this point where we're actually in the ground, seeing it go up," coach Katy Motsinger said.
Over the past three years, the program has seen what head age-group coach Chris Rowe calls "absolutely phenomenal growth" -- an increase from about 100 members in 2009 to more than 500 swimmers today.
Because of the lack of available pool space, the program has had to wait-list or turn away potential swimmers, Rowe said.
The new $6 million facility will also feature a piece of Olympic history.
Frisco Aquatics is working with a company that can disassemble pools and reinstall them in a new location, often saving money in the process.

The facility will feature the warm-up pool from the 2008 Olympic Trials, something coaches hope will help motivate their young swimmers.
"How cool is it that the Olympic team from four years ago prepared for their races in that pool?" Motsinger said. "It's a really cool legacy to have for us."
The team is still raising money for the project with its Fill the Pool campaign.
The latest effort is a "brick and tile" campaign that offers businesses and individuals the opportunity to put their name or logo on a piece of the new building.
The facility will also host community events.
