A man was outside of his vehicle changing a tire about 4:30 p.m. when he was struck by a car, emergency officials said.
Two other cars then collided in a crash that followed.
The man was transported to Harris Methodist Hospital in critical condition, and two women from the other two cars were taken to Harris Methodist in serious condition.
A fourth person was transported in good condition.
The cars have been moved to the right shoulder as police investigate, but traffic was backed up into downtown Fort Worth at 5:30 p.m.
