The Defense Department says a 28-year-old Fort Hood soldier from Lubbock has died in Iraq.
A Pentagon statement issued Tuesday night says Spc. Geoffrey G. Johnson died Sunday in Baghdad of what the Army will only call "injuries sustained from a noncombat-related incident." The statement says the incident is under investigation.
The statement says Johnson was assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Company, Division Special Troops Battalion, 4th Infantry Division at Fort Hood.
