Fort Worth Veterans Parade Delayed Due to Gas Odor

The Fort Worth Veterans Day Parade was delayed for about half-an-hour Monday morning after a gas odor was detected on the parade route.

The Fort Worth Fire Department said the odor was coming from a man hole cover in the 200 block of Throckmorton Street in Downtown Fort Worth.

The Fort Worth Office of Emergency Management said the odor came from a gas leak at 2nd and Throckmorton. A photo from NBC 5's Deborah Ferguson shows fire crews outside a building.

Jennifer Ryan, with Atmos Energy, said the gas company sent a technician to the scene to assist.

The Veterans Day Parade, which would pass over the area, was delayed about 30 minutes until emergency crews could update the organizers on the situation.
