Artists Honored At Stock Show

Don't have to own an animal to win a ribbon

The Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo proved today you don’t have to own a pig, cow or horse to win a ribbon.

Forty local children won prizes today for their artistic abilities.  Kids as young as 5 all the way to 18 left the show today with ribbons,  and more than 20-thousand dollars in cash and scholarships.

They wowed a panel of judges with paintings of livestock, farm life and projects that express what it means to “Buck the Ordinary”, the theme of this year’s Stock Show.

The judges chose Stanislav Nedzieski as the Reserve Grand Champion.

And the best in show, the Grand Champion was 18 year old Sarah Barnett of Keller for her painting “Waiting to Buck”.

More than a thousand kids entered the 2012 Star-Telegram Stock Show Art Contest.
