A grant from the Texas Veterans Commission will help Fort Worth assist veterans and their families with housing and utilities.
The $300,000 grant will benefit the city's Forward Home veteran assistance program, which provides one-time payments for rentals or mortgages and utility payments in an effort to fight homelessness.
Veterans who apply will also be screened to determine whether they may be eligible for other assistance programs, the city said.
