Gunman, Motive Sought in Fatal Fort Worth Apartment Shooting

Several apartments were sprayed by gunfire and one man was killed during a deadly shooting late Monday night.

Several witnesses say the shooter used a fully-automatic weapon. Police have not identified any suspects in the deadly shooting.

Fort Worth police detectives marked more than two dozen bullet holes at the Arbors Apartments on Vaucluse Drive. There are bullet holes in the walls and doorways of several apartments.

The victim was killed outside his apartment in a hail of gunfire as he tried to run away, officers said. Detectives said the victim may have known his killer.

Donald Brooks lives in the apartment unit next door to the victim. Several bullets pierced his bathroom wall and lodged in his tub and shower.

"It's possible that I could be dead by this," Brooks said.

Brooks was watching TV in the living room late Monday night. He can see how his life would've changed if he was in the bathtub instead.

"Basically I feel lucky. I feel real lucky. I could have been taking a shower, I could have been walking past the door," he said.

Police haven't made any arrests. Several terrified residents are considering moving out altogether.

"I was sitting in my living room and I heard, ‘Pow! Pow! Pow! Pow!" said Niki McDaniel, a mother. "It's like, do I stay or do I leave? I'm thinking more of the safety of my children."

Police haven't yet identified the victim. Detectives say they're still working the case right now to find the shooter.
