Fort Worth police officers shot a man Saturday night who opened fire on them as they responded to a third domestic disturbance call at the home that evening, police say.
The Fort Worth Police Department said officers had already been called to a home in the 900 block of East Shaw Street twice Saturday over domestic issues before responding to the latest call for help at about 9 p.m.
Police said as officers arrived at the location the third time a man exited the home armed with a gun. Officers drew their guns and ordered the man to drop his weapon several times, but he refused.
The man began shooting, police said, and officers returned fire, hitting him in the lower torso.
The man, whose name has not yet been released, was awake and talking when taken to John Peter Smith Hospital. His current condition is not known.
No other injuries were reported.
In addition to the three visits Saturday, police said early Sunday morning that they had made a number of visits to the home in the past.
Criminal charges against the man are pending, police said, though they didn't elaborate on what those charges would be.
