Fort Worth Man Arrested in Connection With High School Arson

Arson Investigators from the Fort Worth Fire Department have arrested a man in connection with a fire at Northside High School in the 2200 block of McKinley Avenue, authorities said.

Jose Esparza-Romero, a 19-year-old former student of the school, has been arrested in connection with the arson last Friday, Dec. 2.

According to Fort Worth ISD, a man set fire to a riding lawnmower outside the school last Friday. He then went into the building and set a fire in the basement.

The fires didn't cause structural damage to the schools, but FWISD said the basement fire left soot.

Romero was identified through Crime Stoppers tips, according to the city of Fort Worth.
