Teachers in the Fort Worth Independent School District will be getting more money, but it's not a raise.
The school board will give teachers and full-time staff a one-time, 1 percent bonus.
Board members wanted to approve raises, but the district can't afford it.
"Thank you to our employees for sticking with us and staying with us because I know we ask a lot of our employees and you know, this is just a small token of giving back," said J.R. Martinez, Fort Worth ISD board member.
The bonuses will cost the district about $5.5 million.
Employees should receive the bonus in October.
