Fort Worth Doggie Door Bandit Nabbed After Foot Chase

The man known as the "Doggie Door Bandit" is behind bars.

The accused burglar was caught on camera earlier this month crawling through a dog door to get inside a home in Fort Worth's Ryan Place neighborhood.

Though Fort Worth police said detectives were able to positively identify the man in the video, they have not yet released his name because he is the prime suspect in a number of ongoing investigations into burglaries on the west side.

With the man's identity known to police, a warrant was issued for his arrest on May 26. A day later, as officers with the Fort Worth Police Department's Fugitive Unit and Patrol attempted to arrest the man at his home, he ran from his backyard and climbed over several fences trying to escape capture.

After a short foot chase, police said they were able to capture the man.

Due to the ongoing investigation into several robberies, police have asked that media outlets not publish the man's name or his mug shot at this time.  Once the embargo on that information has been lifted, we will publish that information here.
