Fort Worth Diocese Could Split from Episcopal Church

Vote planned for Saturday morning

The Fort Worth Diocese plans to vote Saturday to separate from the Episcopal Church. Issues such as homosexuality, abortion, and the interpretation of the Bible have created division within the church.

Fort Worth Bishop Jack Iker lays out some of the differences between the Episcopal Church, or TEC, and the Fort Worth Diocese.

Iker says TEC believes there are multiple paths to salvation, condones homosexual and bisexual relationships, and allows gay and bisexual ministers.

During the annual Diocesan Convention this weekend, delegates will vote on severing ties with the Church forever.

Two-thirds approval is required.
