Fort Worth Detective Fired, Accused of Falsifying Records

A 29-year veteran of the Fort Worth Police Department is fighting for her job.

Det. Karen D. Holmes is accused of using a city vehicle as her personal car and of falsifying time sheets, according to a report in the Star-Telegram.

Holmes is appealing her termination.

A disciplinary letter referenced by the paper indicates that Holmes was seen coming late and leaving early and filling out a time sheet that said she worked for 8 hours after only being in the office for a couple of mintues.

Her attorney speculates that as a detective, she may spend a lot of time working in the field and that he'll file an open records request to see the department's evidence as a part of his client's appeal.

It is not yet known whether or not Holmes will face criminal charges.
