Folks Lining Up for Gourmet Hot Dogs with a Texas Twist

A popular California restaurant chain, known for its not-so-ordinary take on America’s favorite summer food, is creating a lot of buzz in North Texas.

Dog Haus in Richardson is taking the hot dog experience to a whole new level --with a Texas twist.

We’re talking the Cowboy haus dog, which is wrapped with bacon, topped with cheddar cheese sauce and fried crunchy onions, and drizzled with smoky barbecue sauce. As with all haus dogs, the Cowboy is placed on a King’s Hawaiian bun for a sweet and savory contrast.

But the bestseller is the haus dog made exclusive just for North Texas. The Big D is a cheddar and jalapeño wurst topped off with spicy peppers and a chipotle aioli. Franchisee Ron Ryan says because it’s the Big D, and we are in the Big D, this haus dog is fittingly a little larger than the others.

And folks are showing their Texas pride by lining up.

Ryan says during the grand opening, Haus Dog had a two hour long line for about 12 straight hours.
