Fire Destroys Mobile Home in Johnson County

Firefighters in Johnson County battled a fire at two mobile homes Tuesday afternoon.

The rural homes were set off the 1700 block of County Road 706 on what appeared to be ungraded pasture.

Departments from both Burleson and Johnson County were called to the scene to assist the Joshua Fire Department, where firefighters had to join several hundred yards of hose to reach the nearest hydrant.

The fire appears to have destroyed at least once home and damaged another. Several other homes and vehicles parked in the community were threatened before firefighters got the blaze under control.

After the fire was extinguished, officials learned the fire started when a man who was intentionally starting an outdoor fire used gasoline as an accelerant.  The fire then grew out of hand.

At this time, no injuries have been reported.

Officials with the Joshua Fire Department said the sheriff's office was called out to the same location earlier in the day. Officials later said that call was unrelated to the fire.
