Fire Damages Longtime Arlington Pub

A longtime Arlington pub caught fire early Wednesday morning.

The fire was first reported at J.R. Bentley's English Pub on West Abram Street in Arlington at about 3:50 a.m. Wednesday.

Fire crews said they weren't immediately sure of where the fire began, but said as the fire spread to the air conditioning system, it caused additional problems. Fighting the blaze was also complicated by the old framing of the building.

Though the fire was categorized as a 1-alarm fire, extra crews were on hand due to heat and humidity, fire officials said.

Portions of Abram in front of the restaurant were closed as firefighters fought the fire.

Firefighters said the building is not a total loss and that portions of the pub could be saved. Most of the fire was contained in the rafters of the building, fire crews said.

NBC 5's Keaton Fox contributed to this report.
