Firefighters extinguished a house fire early Saturday morning in Cockrell Hill.
The fire damaged the vacant home in the 4000 block of Dempsey. No one was injured.
The department only responded to this fire as a working blaze and never as a training exercise.
Fire Chief Michael Burns told NBC 5 firefighter training can only take place during a controlled burn.
