Findings Say Texas Tech Dean Improperly Changed Grades

The dean of the business college at Texas Tech University will resign from the post after an investigation found he improperly changed the grades of four students to improve their results.

The university provost in August formed a committee to look into allegations that the grades were changed to allow those students to graduate.

Texas Tech said Tuesday that Lance Nail, dean of the business college, has told the provost that he'll resign as dean effective Dec. 31. Nail will remain with the college as a professor and also continue as chairman of the Texas Tech University Innovation Hub at Research Park Board of Directors.

The committee's report said it "found no justification" for the changes.

Nail didn't respond to an email seeking comment.
