Wrong-Way Driver Killed in Crash in Oak Cliff

Dallas police say a wrong-way driver was killed in a head-on collision with a sport utility vehicle in Oak Cliff on Friday afternoon.

Police said a 35-year-old man in a red Ford Focus was driving eastbound in the westbound lane of traffic in the 1900 block of Illinois Road at about 4:30 p.m.

He collided with a black sport utility vehicle with two women and two children inside in the westbound center lane of traffic at Sutter Road in.

The driver of the Ford Focus died at the scene, police said.

The four people in the SUV were taken to area hospitals. Their conditions were not immediately know, but police said none of the injuries appeared to be life-threatening.

The crash is under investigation. Police said it was too early to determine if there were any other contributing factors to the crash.
