The rememberances for Ryan Cook continued Monday night when friends and family gathered for a candlelight vigil.
Colorful messages that read like a kaliedoscope of emotions poured out onto the pavement near where Cook's body was found.
"He always lit up the room, you know. He was always in a good mood. Everyone is going to miss him a lot, you know," said Taylor Shield, Cook's friend. "He was a really good friend to everyone."
Cook had at least one adversary, the person who shot him point blank while he sat inside his car in a parking lot on Saturday night.
After more than 40 interviews, investigators believe they are inching closer to the truth and that a break in the case may come from Cook's peers.
Among those peers rumors are rampant, through text messages and the Internet. If Little Elm's first murder of 2009 is expected to be solved, police said it is likely that children will have played a key role.
Cook's uncle described the family as devastated and that one of the last things Cook had done Saturday was to call his little brother to be sure he had a ride home from a movie.
