Facebook Helps Crack Frisco Burglary Case

Frisco police are cracking a cold burglary case this week thanks to social media.

In August, Old World Granite and Stone on Ash Street was burglarized.

“We’d like to ask them, 'Why did you break into our building?'” said Trace Devine, who owns the business alongside his twin brother and their spouses.

“We wonder every day when we come back to work if we’re going to be broken into again,” Devine said.

The Devines’ security system managed to capture four young men on video, smashing an office window with a brick and clearing out thousands of dollars worth of office electronics.

They took several computers and a cell phone and managed to disable one security camera.

For the past five months, the Devines have been posting still images from their security footage on social media, hoping to catch a break.

That break came on Wednesday, after Frisco police, who have also been investigating for months, released four still images of the suspects on the official police department Facebook page.

A police spokesman told NBC 5 tipsters came forward that same day, allowing police to identify the people in the video and move toward making arrests.

The Devines are hopeful they’ll now be able to recover some of their property.

“I like [social media] for these instances, where you can catch people nowadays,” said Tamie Devine.

Frisco police said they will continue to use social media as a platform to solve cases.
