Fort Worth City Council member Charles "Chuck" Silcox passed away late Friday night at Harris Methodist Hospital after fighting a lengthy battle with cancer.
Mayor Mike Moncrief issued a press release on Silcox's passing stating, in part, "We are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of our friend and colleague Chuck Silcox. As the senior member of our council, Chuck was a strong thread in the fabric of this community. He will be missed, and his absence leaves behind a major void that will certainly be difficult to fill."
Silcox was first elected to the Fort Worth City Council in 1991 and has been re-elected in every election since, most recently in 2007.
He was a native and livelong resident of Fort Worth.
