FCC, Dish Network Team Up for DTV Info in Dallas

The Federal Communications Commission and Dish Network are coming to Dallas with information on the transition from analog to digital television.

Representatives from Dish Network will demonstrate how to install a DTV converter box, and the FCC will be available with information on the June 12 switch.

Dish Network will also distribute coverter boxes to people who bring a valid $40 voucher from the NTIA. Dish Network will not be selling the boxes.

The event will be held Friday from 8 a.m. to noon and 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Martin Luther King Jr. Community Center at 2922 Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard in Dallas. Click here for directions and a map.

By June 12, 2009, consumers receiving their programming over-the-air with an analog television will need to make one of three choices about how to watch TV after that date: 1.) Buy a TV converter box that will plug into the analog TV; 2.) Buy a TV with a digital tuner; or 3.) Connect the analog TV to cable, satellite or other pay service.

Households can apply for up to two $40 coupons to be used toward the purchase of certified TV converter boxes at www.DTV2009.gov; by phone at 1-888-DTV-2009 (1-888-388-2009) or for TTY 1-877-530-2634 (English), 1-866-495-1161 (Spanish); by fax at 1-877-DTV-4ME2 (1-877-388-4632); or by mail to P.O.
