Ex-UT Athletics Staffer Sentenced for Voyeurism

A former University of Texas women's track equipment manager will spend four years in state jail for secretly photographing and videotaping female athletes as they showered and dressed in a locker room.

The Austin American-Statesman reports 33-year-old Rene Zamora was sentenced on Thursday to two years after he had pleaded guilty in September to 19 counts of improper photography or visual recording in six cases.

Thursday's sentence will be served consecutively with a two-year term he got in March after being convicted by a jury on six similar counts.

Zamora had been accused of secretly taping at least 11 student-athletes over a three-year period.

At Thursday's hearing in Austin, Zamora apologized for filming the women.

Assistant District Attorney Amy Meredith said she was satisfied with the resolution.
