Schepps Dairy is offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to an arrest in the brutal beating death of an elderly Oak Cliff man.
Delbert Wayne Parr was left in a coma with critical head injuries after he was robbed and beaten for cash, family members said.
Parr was headed home after cashing his $1,400 Social Security check when he was attacked in his driveway at about 9 p.m., his family said. Parr survived the attack and staggered into his home on the 4500 block of Wyoming Street where his wife called 911.
"To me it looked like they had to hit him more than once, like they ... pulled it back and came again," said Wayne Parr, the victim's son.
Family members said Parr was beaten on the back of his head with his claw hammer, a tool he carried to protect himself. Parr initially refused the help of paramedics but was transported to Methodist Central Hospital in Dallas after losing consciousness.
"He didn't deserve that. He would've given the money. He wasn't but about 100 pounds ... 75-year-old little white man just bringing home his groceries for his family," said Clinton Parr, the victim's grandson.
The family said on Wednesday that the doctors had given them little hope for any recovery.

"I'm heartbroken. We're still in shock. We're fixing to unplug our Dad," the victim's daughter, Jeana Franks, said. "We talked to him today in the hospital and they're unplugging him. That's it. It's over."
Parr died Thursday morning.
So far, police have revealed no suspects in connection with Parr's attack but said it may be related to a similar attack on another elderly Dallas man last month.

Schepps Dairy will pay $10,000 for information leading to the arrest and grand jury indictment of the suspect or suspects in the case. The reward offer will remain in force for six months from today's date.
