A fast-moving apartment fire in South Oak Cliff destroyed several homes and displaced eight families Sunday afternoon.
Dallas Fire-Rescue said the flames started at the Mandalay Palm Apartments in the 7500 block of Chesterfield Drive at about 2:20 p.m.
The fire erupted through the roof of one apartment building and damaged 12 units.
No one was injured, but the department said the fire caused $300,000 in damage.
