The Department of Defense says another soldier from North Texas has died supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.
Sgt. Tanner S. Higgins, 23, of Yantis, died April 14 in Logar province, Afghanistan, of wounds sustained when enemy forces attacked his unit with small arms fire.
Yantis is in Wood County east of the Metroplex.
Higgins was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment, Hunter Army Airfield, Ga.
According to KETR-FM, Higgins' body was to arrive at Majors Field Municipal Airport in Greenville Monday morning. Services are Tuesday at Lake Fork Baptist Church in Wood County.
