Drivers Face Charges in Deadly Crash

Investigators blame road rage in crash.

Richardson police say the men involved in a Christmas Eve crash will face negligent homicide charges.

Investigators say Christopher Soliz died after his SUV was hit by one of the out of control cars.

Police say the accident occurred when one driver, 40-year-old Philip Cullens, cut off and blocked a speeding luxury car that was trying to pass him.

Witnesses told police that both cars were traveling anywhere from 70 mph to 80 mph when Cullens' car hit Soliz's vehicle as it entered the main road after exiting an apartment complex.

Police say 19-year-old Gabriel Gaona, the driver of the luxury car, drove off the road to avoid the collision.

Gaona was not injured but police said Cullens and a passenger in Soliz's car were taken to nearby hospitals for non-life threatening injuries.

Police arrested Gaona last night on a charge of criminally negligent homicide. He remained in the Richardson City Jail today in lieu of $100,000 bond.

Police say Cullens, who faces the same criminal charge, will be arrested upon release from the hospital.
