Driver Suspected of Crashing Into Building on Purpose

Dallas police said a driver might have crashed into a building on Lawnview Avenue in Dallas on purpose early Friday morning.

At about 2:15 a.m., officers said a woman called 911 and said the driver of the car she was in was threatening to take both her life and his own.

According to dispatch, they were heading east on Interstate 30 at a very high speed.

Police said the phone call ended when the driver took the woman’s phone and disconnected.

Soon after that call, officers received a call about a car that crashed into a building at 4203 Lawnview Avenue at Hunnicut Road.

They said the woman who made the 911 call was on the scene and was hurt in the crash. They treated her for head and leg injuries, but said she refused to go to the hospital.

After the crash, the driver ran away. Police said they locked down the area and used a K-9 unit, helicopter and ground search to find him just a few minutes later.

The man was taken into custody for questioning.
