Driver Loses Consciousness, Crashes Truck Into Church

Two women hospitalized with minor injuries

A driver lost consciousness and careened into a church building Monday morning, injuring two people, police say.

The driver crashed into the Grand High Court Heroines of Jericho church on the 3000-block of East 4th Street at about 11:30 a.m.

A witness to the crash, Necho Morris, was sitting on his porch as the truck crossed his lawn and smashed into the church's west wall.

Inside, two women were struck by either debris or the vehicle and required hospitalization for minor injuries, police said.

"We had a vehicle traveling eastbound here on 4th and the driver lost consciousness, passed out briefly, left the roadway and struck this church, said Sgt. Craig Buzbee, with the Fort Worth Police Department.

Police said the driver was a disabled veteran who had recently changed his medicine and he thinks that might have made him pass out.

At this time, no charges have been filed against the driver.
