A driver accidentally hit a 5-year-old girl Thursday outside the Plano KinderCare in the 6800 block of Independence Parkway, police said.
The woman had stopped to let a mother pushing a stroller cross the street and didn't realize the little girl was following right behind, and ran over her, police said.
The child was transported to the Medical Center of Plano for treatment and then transfered to Children’s Medical Center of Dallas. She was released from the hospital Friday afternoon, authorities said.
Beth Woodward, a spokeswoman for Kindercare, told the Dallas Morning News that the driver is a teacher at the school and the victim is the sibling of a child who attends the center.
Police said the incident is under investigation, but they do not expect to file any charges against the driver.
