Dozens of Bodies Left on Mexican Highway

Drug gangs believed to have left bodies as a warning

A Mexican law enforcement official says dozens of bodies have been dumped on a highway near the northern city of Monterrey.

Many of the bodies apparently are mutilated.

The discovery early Sunday led authorities to close a highway from Monterrey to the border city of Reynosa, snarling traffic.

The discovery seems to echo several other recent incidents in which drug gangs left large numbers of bodies in public places as a warning to their rivals.

The official asked that his name not be used because he was not authorized to release the information. The details match reports in Mexican news media.
