Partial Lockdown Lifted at NorthPark Center

A taxi driver's dispute with a passenger who possibly was armed prompted a police response and a partial lockdown at NorthPark Center Friday evening, but it turned out the passenger was gone by the time officers arrived, police said.

The incident began about 7 p.m. in the west parking garage near Nordstrom.

The lockdown was lifted just after 8:30 p.m.

"The metal doors were down in Nordstrom's," said customer Meredith Poole. "There were two police officers in the doors across from the parking garage. They told me I couldn't come to my car because it was best for my safety that I stay indoors."

Police said patrol officers dealt with the situation and it didn't require a SWAT team to respond.

Officers weren't sure where the suspect fled, police said.

NorthPark Center, one of the largest malls in North Texas, is located near Loop 12 and Highway 75.
