Detour Alert: I-30, Love Field, Richardson Road Closures

Drivers in North Texas could be impacted by road closures along the I-30 in Dallas, near Love Field Airport and in Richardson this week.

Closures Scheduled on I-30 Between I-35E and Sylvan

The Texas Department of Transportation is expected to temporarily close various lanes on westbound Interstate 30 between Interstate 35E and Sylvan Avenue nightly from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. beginning Sunday, July 24, through Thursday, July 28.

As many as two lanes at a time will be closed while the road is being repaved and restriped. Closed lanes on I-30 westbound may be reopened to the public earlier than scheduled if the work is completed.

Message boards and traffic control devices will be placed to alert the traveling public. TxDOT asks motorists to drive carefully through the work zone and thanks area drivers for their patience and cooperation as crews work to complete this project as soon and as safely as possible.

Love Field Construction

Starting this week, Dallas Love Field passengers will begin to see the latest in construction progress on Cedar Springs Road. During this phase of construction, travelers are asked to adhere to parking regulations and lane closures to keep traffic flowing smoothly in front of the terminals.
Due to major roadway construction, passage in front of Terminal 2 will be reduced to one lane from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m., with two lanes open during normal operating hours.

Love Field emphasizes that people picking up travelers should continue to be directed to park in the parking garages or in the designated Cell Phone Waiting Lot.

Please do not park at curbsides near Terminal 1 (Continental/United Airlines and Delta Air Lines) and Terminal 2 (Southwest Airlines).

The parking garages and the Cell Phone Lot are convenient options for people waiting to pick up passengers and will help reduce congestion around the terminals. It is also standard practice for departing Southwest passengers to enter Terminal 2 from the Level 1 entrance. Love Field asks that all Southwest departing passengers follow these instructions to promote better traffic flow around the terminals.

Richardson Road Closure

The Kansas City Southern (KCS) rail road company plans to begin rail road crossing repairs along its line that intersects Alma Road and Custer Parkway in Richardson. The work will re-grade the intersections to create smoother crossovers where the rail line crosses the roadways north of Renner Road.

The first closure will occur Saturday, June 18 through Monday, June 20 on Alma Road. During that time, all lanes of traffic will be closed on Alma at the rail line. Northbound traffic on Alma will be re-directed at Renner Road. Southbound traffic will be redirected to the access roads along the President George Bush Turnpike.

Alma Road is anticipated to reopen Tuesday, June 21. However, various lane closures are anticipated to occur June 21 through Friday, June 24 as work on the approaches to the rail crossing is completed.

Drivers are encouraged to use alternate routes during this construction period.

From Saturday, June 25 through Monday, June 27 Custer Parkway will be closed at the rail line just north of Renner Road for similar repairs. During construction, northbound traffic on Custer will be re-directed at Renner Road, and southbound traffic will be redirected to the access roads along the President George Bush Turnpike.

Custer Parkway is anticipated to reopen Tuesday, June 28. However, various lane closures are anticipated to occur June 28 through Friday, July 1 as work on the approaches to the rail crossing is completed. Drivers are encouraged to use alternate routes during this construction period.
