Deputy Rescues Women From Sinking Car

Two women pulled from Lake Ray Hubbard

Two women have Rockwall County Sheriff's Deputy Kevin Rowan to thank for saving their lives at Lake Ray Hubbard.

The women were reportedly lost in the dark in Robertson Park when they drove down a boat ramp late Friday night.  Fortunately for them, Deputy Rowan was driving nearby.

"So I go down and get a glimpse of taillights and I see a vehicle submerged in the water up the driver door when I first pull up," Rowan said. "As I get out of the vehicle, I see 2 girls in the backseat screaming."

With the car nose-diving to the lake bottom, Rowan knew he had to act fast. "So I went into the water and took a window punch with me and swam out to the vehicle and was able to break the window and get the two females out."

But the drama wasn't over. "As I'm pulling them out, they're yelling I can't swim. So I get the first female out and the second one jumps out and she basically lands right on top of my head."

Rowan got both victims out.  They walked back to the shore.  The women suffered scratches from the broken glass but have a lot more to be thankful for.
