Denton Deputy Recovers After Being Hit By Vehicle, Driver Arrested

A Denton County sheriff's deputy is recovering after being run over by a pickup truck Saturday night.

The sheriff's office t told NBC 5 that incident happened in town of Krum.  

Public information officer Sandi Brackeen said the deputy was directing traffic near a rodeo event when she was somehow hit and run over by a pickup truck. 

The deputy was airlifted to John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth, where she is listed in stable condition.

Sunday afternoon the sheriff's office said Jaime Fabela of Seneca, Ill., was arrested for driving while intoxicated.

Fabela faces charges of intoxication assault causing serious bodily injury to a peace officer. As of 4 p.m. Sunday he was being held in the Denton County Jail on $100,000 bond.

The deputy's name has not been released, but the sheriff's office says she is in good spirits and appreciates the outpouring of concern for her.
