Deer Decoy Catches Convicted Murderer With Gun

Federal prosecutors say a deer decoy set up to catch night hunters caught a convicted Texas killer with a gun.

U.S. Attorney Stephanie Finley says 50-year-old Larry Robert Baker of Maud, Texas, served 20 years for a Texas murder conviction and had recently left prison when he was arrested Jan. 11.

U.S. District Judge Tom Stagg scheduled sentencing Dec. 5. , Finley says Baker pleaded guilty on Aug. 29 to possessing a gun after a felony conviction. He could get up to 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.

She says Louisiana wildlife agents arrested Baker at a deer decoy they set up to catch hunters illegally shooting at night in north Caddo Parish.

She says Baker was convicted of murder in McLennan County, Texas, on Aug. 5, 1993.
