Deaths of Husband, Wife Investigated in Southeast Texas

Southeast Texas authorities say they are investigating the deaths of a 73-year-old woman and her 75-year-old husband as a possible murder-suicide.

The Liberty County sheriff's office says the couple's son called 911 on Sunday after discovering their bodies in their south Liberty County home. The sheriff's office on Monday identified the couple as Ethel and James Hall.

Their son went to the home after being unable to contact them. Officials say the son found the door to the home unlocked and then discovered them on the bed, both fatally shot. A gun was lying near the father.

Sgt. Kenny Dagle says Ethel Hall had recently suffered a stroke.

Autopsies are pending.
