In tough economic times, frugal shoppers are looking for deals and smart business owners are giving them.  Here are a few deals we've found for this week.

FRIDAY DEALS

Oktoberfest in Addison kicked off Thursday. German food, drink and entertainment, including traditional folk dances, will continue through the weekend at Addison Circle Park.

This month and next, Dallas' West End is offering free concerts on Friday nights.  The band Counterfeit Radio is playing tonight at 7:30 p.m.

Friday night is family movie night at the Castle Hills Village Shops Plaza in Lewisville.  Watch Disney's Earth beginning at 8 p.m.

How does shopping and chocolate sound?  Both are available at the ladies night out chocolate walk in downtown Carrollton.  Shops will stay open late and best of all they'll be handing out free chocolate.

Every Saturday has something different and interesting at the Uptown Village at Cedar Hill.  Jazz, movies and car shows will feature attractions on different Saturdays in September. A schedule is available here.

Saturdays and Sundays at 11:45 a.m. and 4:15 p.m., the Legends of Texas Gunfight Shows take place at Stockyards Station in Fort Worth. The shows are free and attendees can learn about about the history of this part of North Texas between 1835 and the early 1900s.

SEPTEMBER DEALS

September is library card sign-up month at the Burleson Public Library.  The card is free to residents and $25 to non-residents.

After 5 p.m., kids under 12 eat free at Black-Eyed Pea restaurants throughout Texas. One item from the kids menu is free with each adult entree purchased.

Parents can get a free child's entree (10 and under) with the purchase of an adult entree at Cafe Brazil Sunday through Thursday between 5 p.m. and 10 p.m.  Also, every Tuesday the restaurant has a special offer on their Facebook page. 

Maggiano's Little Italy wants you to have leftovers "Today & Tomorrow."  First, choose an entree from a special selection of items -- then Maggiano's will give you a second selection to take with you after your meal to enjoy as your dinner the next day. The promotion is available for dine-in only -- find out more on Twitter and Facebook.

Kids eat free at Oliverโ€™s Fine Foods in Mansfield on Monday's from 4 to 8 p.m.  The free kids meal is offered with an adult meal purchase.

At Planet Burrito kids eat free with the purchase of a regular priced entree Monday through Wednesday until Sept. 30.  Planet Burrito is located at Park Boulevard in Plano and on Kimball Avenue in Southlake.

Ferrรฉ Ristorante & Bar in Sundance Square has a great deal every Monday.  How does $0 sound for a two-course dinner?  The restaurant's "Dine On Us" promotion offers a free meal and only asks that guests pay for their drinks and tip their server according to what their meal would have cost -- had it not been free.  Sounds more than fair to me.  Reservations are recommended and more information is available on the restaurant's Facebook page.

Gelato lovers! Receive a free bambino-sized serving of gelato at Paciugo Lakewood from noon to 7 p.m. on Mondays with the purchase of a medio or gande.  More info on their Facebook page.

On Tuesdays, shoppers over the age of 55 will be given 15 percent off their purchase at all Metroplex Catherine's Plus clothing stores.

Sonny Bryan's Smokehouse is offering a free gift and birthday meal if you sign up It's Sonny's Club.  The BBQ giant has restaurants in Dallas, Richardson, Las Colinas and Fort Worth.

Dos Chiles Tex-Mex in Wise County is offering two enchilada dinners and two drinks for just $10 on Tuesdays.  There are Dos Chiles restaurants in Boyd, Bridgeport and Bowie. 

On Wednesday, get 20 percent off your tab at Boston's Gourmet Pizza on North Freeway during happy hour.  Please bring in a business card or company identification badge.

Wanna see a movie? All Studio Movie Grill locations in North Texas will sell you a ticket for just $5 Monday - Thursday throughout the entire month of September.

Billy Bobs Texas offers free line dance lessons every Thursday at 7 p.m. Admission on Thursday is reduced until 8 p.m.

Speaking of movies, when was the last time you saw an 80s classic?  Well, that's too long.  Head over to the Belmont Hotel  on the west side of downtown Dallas and watch the movie poolside, under the stars.  Dive-in movies begin at dusk and are free of charge.  The Belmont will show a different movie each week ... go here for more information.
