Day Care Worker Accused of Sexually Assaulting Child

Investigators searching for other potential victims

McKinney police say a day care worker has been accused of sexually assaulting a child.

Officials say Jordan Ronald Smith, 23, was arrested Tuesday by McKinney police and members of the Joint East Texas Task Force.

Smith was employed by the Little Professor's Montessori Learning Academy in the 500 block of North McDonald Street.

McKinney police are not releasing any details about the case, but the family of the alleged victim said the 4-year-old girl was forced to wear a mask with tape covering her eyes while she was molested at the day care.

The family said investigators found the specific mask the girl described in the day care. According to the family, tests at the hospital indicate the child was sexually assaulted.

Smith's neighbors said he lived with his grandparents, who they described as lovely people.

"They have always been a nice family. They have always been cordial to everyone in the neighborhood. It's just a shock that this happened," neighbor Steve Cable said.

The woman listed as Smith's emergency contact on his booking sheet is Danielle Cosey. A woman by the same name is listed as the owner of the day care, but refused to comment when reached at home.

Investigators are trying to identify any other potential victims and are asking that anyone involved with the employee or the day care center contact investigator Natalie Irwin.

According to police, Smith was booked into the Collin County Jail and is being held on $100,000 bond.
