An unexpected compromise opened the door Tuesday to providing benefits to same-sex spouses of retired Dallas employees.
The Employees’ Retirement Fund will begin providing benefits to same-sex spouses, subject to a Dallas City Council vote and an opinion from the city attorney saying the fund is required to equalize benefits to comply with federal rulings.
