Dallas Woman One Number Away From $587 Million Jackpot

She still won $1 million, lotttery commission says

A Dallas woman who was just one number away from winning the huge Powerball jackpot earlier this week still won $1 million, the Texas Lottery Commission said Friday.

Betty S. Galloway bought her ticket at the 7-Eleven near Inwood Road and Lovers Lane, officials announced.

Her lucky ticket matched all five numbers (5โ€“16โ€“22โ€“23โ€“29), but not the Poweball number from Wednesdayโ€™s $587 million drawing.

NBC 5 was unable to locate Galloway, but a manager at the 7-Eleven said she is a regular customer who lives in the neighborhood.

Three other Texans also won $1 million. The lottery commission said those tickets were purchased in Houston, Humble and San Antonio.

Powerball sales in Texas totaled $75 million, the commission said, with the city of Dallas accounting for more than $3.5 million of the sales.
