Dallas Teen Creates Website for Injured Athletes

Friends in Kneed focuses on knee injuries

After sustaining an injury on the field, a Dallas teenager started a website to help other injured athletes.

Christina Gordon was sidelined from the soccer field in September.

"She stepped right in front of me and elbowed in the back, causing me to turn, and my foot remained planted in the ground," she said. "I hear three pops, and I was gone."

Gordon sustained an anterior cruciate ligament, or ACL, injury.

"When you're going through an injury like this, you feel like you're the only one out there," she said.

After getting treated at the Texas Institute for Surgery, Gordon created the website Friends in Kneed.

The website provides a place for injured athletes who have sustained knee injuries to share what they are going through, ask questions and receive other information.

β€œReading other stories, I feel so much better," Gordon said. "I was like, 'I wish I had this when I first got hurt.'"

The website is garnering international attention, getting hits from Canada, England, Germany, Australia and Northern Ireland.
