Dallas police are searching for the driver whose vehicle struck and injured a child Monday evening.

Police said a person flagged down an officer at about 7:30 p.m. and said a 3-year-old child had been hit in the 8500 block of Park Lane.

The child was standing outside a residence when he recognized a family member and ran into the street to greet that person. As he ran into the street, however, a vehicle struck the child and then continued driving, police said.

The suspect vehicle was described as a black SUV without a luggage rack, being driven by an Asian male with curly hair along with an Asian female passenger, police said.

The driver faces a charge of injury to a child.

The child's condition was not disclosed.

Anyone with information that could help investigators is asked to call Dallas police.
