Dallas Police Officer Injured In Crash

Officer has minor injuries, expected to be OK

A Dallas police officer was injured after being hit by a car on an onramp Tuesday morning near Interstate 35E and 8th Street.

According to Sgt. Gary Brown, the officer was responding to a call for backup after another officer tried to pull over a speeding car on the freeway. That car appeared to be stopping on the service road near 8th Street, but kept driving.

The officer that was injured tried driving up an on-ramp, but was hit by a vehicle going down that ramp, Brown said.

The officer blacked out briefly and was hospitalized with minor injuries, Brown said.

According to police, investigators are looking at the crash to see if there was any mistakes made by the officer.

The driver of the speeding car escaped in the shuffle, Brown said, thought his car was impounded.
