A Dallas man must serve life in prison for the 2014 slaying of his girlfriend who was stabbed 39 times.
Quavize Jones on Monday was sentenced to the maximum penalty in the death of 25-year-old Marietta Shaw. A Dallas County jury on Friday convicted the 29-year-old Jones of murder.
Prosecutors say he attacked his girlfriend while at her home because she planned to break up with him. The couple's infant daughter and two other children were at the apartment but not harmed.
Jones has previous drug-related convictions.
