Dallas Man Convicted of Enticement, Asked if ‘Boy' was Officer

A 60-year-old Dallas man faces up to life in prison for months of texting a person he thought was a 14-year-old boy in an attempt to meet and have sex.

Jack Marty Taylor was convicted Thursday in Dallas of attempted enticement of minor.

The person communicating with Taylor, since September 2014, is a Garland police detective.

Prosecutors say Taylor sent sexually explicit text messages and asked several times whether the "boy" was an officer. Taylor's messages said he was experienced in such matters and it was important to ask before meeting for the first time.

Prosecutors say Taylor was arrested in February after going to a location to finally meet the boy, after requesting about 40 times that they get together.

No sentencing date was immediately set for Taylor.
