The City of Dallas has been granted an emergency hearing to be held Friday morning in an attempt to lift restrictions on mowing a wildflower prairie grass area at White Rock Lake Park to build a parking lot.
The City and the Dallas Arboretum want the lot for overflow Arboretum parking. The Chihuly exhibit opens this weekend and is expected to bring big crowds.
Angry residents won the temporary restraining order Tuesday blocking destruction of the wildflower prairie grass areas at Winfrey Point.
The temporary restraining order granted Tuesday blocks construction of new parking areas, but does not necessarily block mowing of wildflowers and parking on grass, according to plaintiff's attorney Robert Cohen.
Supporters of the temporary retraining order plan to protest at the park Friday morning before and during the hearing which is scheduled for 9 a.m. at the 192nd Civil District Court downtown.
